Public art is an invaluable tool for thoughtful redevelopment. It can contribute to economic development, safety (painted crosswalks), and placemaking, while respecting a community’s history and culture. Unfortunately, it is not without its challenges. These case studies will provide examples of public art projects in redevelopment and complementary art initiatives from different stakeholder perspectives. They will examine the challenges and triumphs faced along the way, including placing public art on public infrastructure.
